The Knorrs also taste great. Wally World sells them for a buck every day and like you said I got ‘em on sale at Safeway for 88 cents apiece. Great vid! Thanks for the valuable information!

@ZombieTactics – Thanks ZT! Always enjoy and appreciate your videos…philosophy to practicals. Please keep them coming.
BTW, hope you’re not moving away from CA…if you’re we’re gonna miss you much here where we have suffered together.

@Topaz5866 That would work just fine.

Thank you for this great alternative to Mountain House pouches. Can you just leave off the tape and vacuum seal the pouch in a vacuum bag?

@ZombieTactics I prefer to recognize my extra twenty pounds as an insurance policy. A study of the lives of North Koreans showed the “fit”people with little reserve body fat died of starvation before those who were a touch more rotund at the outset of severe shortages. My ultimate diet plan is to outlive skinny people.
Well done with the channel, Sir.

A great video for the do it yourselfer cheapskate like me with info I actually didn’t already know . A vacuum sealer might even make these self done packages last more like 10 or maybe even more years .

@nanojazz51 The Hormel website lists all their items that are considered shelf stable & that includes a few different sizes of their tuna , chicken & a couple other meat packages plus they list over 30 other entree items with meat in them as well . Many packages say they need microwaves to heat them up but the MRE heaters certainly worked well enough for me when I tried it out .Other food company websites will list whatever items they produce that are shelf stable as well .

Really enjoy your series. Are hormel tuna and chicken packets shelf stable? I am looking for some meat to supplement some meals.

@mcsoupman No, those would be the tactical SHTF Christmas decorations, still not put away from last December.

Is that your winter (read Christmas) food storage in the background? BTW, you always do a great job!

i ate a can of beans 5 years past date and im ok. The sodium levels in most products will make it last past your lifetime or mine.

@1IdeaAhead As long as you keep reseal the package and keep it reasonable “tight” you shouldn’t have a problem. The Mormon canneries keep them in #10 cans with plastic lids and don’t seem to have any issues. The particular brand I’ve linked has an O2 sensor card, so you can monitor any possible problems.
